RESIDENTIAL
CONSTRUCTION SCHEDULE
Every log or timber home that Log Knowledge designs and builds is
a custom project; no two homes are exactly alike. The following time
frames are only average estimates in the duration of a typical residential
construction schedule. Size, complexity, location, weather, and site
considerations for your home will determine the approximate time involved
in the construction schedule for your unique project.
PRE-CONSTRUCTION
An initial meeting with a Log Knowledge representative will take
place to determine design wish lists, budgets, and general home
layout. Creation of preliminary drawings and revisions to prelims
will be made based on owner's requests, after which full architectural
drawings will be created. Structural engineering, financing, and
building permit submittal will then follow. Approximate time: 2-4
months minimum.
LOG OR TIMBER PREFABRICATION
The log shell or log and timber components are prefabricated at
the Log Knowledge facility prior to delivery. On-site prefabrication
and assembly of log shell or log and timber components can range
from several days to several weeks depending on complexity. Approximate
time: several weeks to several months.
WEATHER-TIGHT CONSTRUCTION
This
type of construction includes the log shell along with materials
and labor required to make the structure weather-tight. Excavation,
foundation, sub-floor system, log shell, doors, windows, exterior
chinking, roof framing, interior framing, and exterior preservative
are included in log shell & weather-tight construction.
Construction takes approximately 3-6 months.

TURN KEY CONSTRUCTION
‘Turn key’ construction is a move-in stage of construction
that incorporates everything from property improvements (septic, well,
excavation, etc.) through floor coverings and appliances. Actual total
construction time frams are influenced by site considerations, home
size, design complexity, and individual selections of finish materials.
Turn key construction takes approximately 7-12 months.
